Political analyst Radu Magdin said on Friday, after President Nicusor Dan appointed Ilie Bolojan as prime minister-designate, that an empathetic communication will help ease up the stress of the coming period, informs Agerpres.
"The new Prime Minister Bolojan has multiple challenges on his hands, both political and in terms of public, economic and fiscal policies. But at the same time, he sets off with a great opportunity, that of the society's realization of the need to get Romania out of the gridlock and impose a new style of leadership and management. From this perspective, if he manages to communicate empathetically also where there are difficulties related to public policies or the economic and fiscal package, and if the Finance minister and the leaders of the coalition parties also assist him, then it will be easier to get through the next period," Magdin told AGERPRES.
The analyst emphasized that it is very important that this coalition changes the "traditional style" of their predecessors, noting that if they too slip into four-party squabbles, the only one to gain will be the opposition and the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians in particular.
Regarding the prime minister's political challenges, Magdin says that "they very much depend on his capacity as a political strategist and on his skill of keeping the parties in the coalition close and of periodically giving each of them a victory in the areas they manage."
"It is of top importance that periodically, in key moments and in the inevitable instances of crisis that will follow, the president and the prime minister are on the same page and explain to the population why Romania must follow a certain course and commit to a set of decisions that, unfortunately, have been delayed in recent years, causing among others loss of funds and denting Romania's image in the world," the analyst added.
President Nicusor Dan appointed on Friday interim leader of the National Liberal Party Ilie Bolojan as prime minister-designate, after holding consultations on Thursday with the political parties and formations represented in Parliament to vet the nominee for chief of the Executive.
