The number of building permits for residential buildings increased in the first ten months of 2017 by 6.1 percent compared to the similar period of 2016, up to 35,496, according to data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS) published on Tuesday.
In October 2017 compared to the same month of the previous year, an increase of building permits was recorded for residential buildings in the following development regions: West (+209 permits), Center (+94), South-Muntenia (+75), North-East (+63), South-West Oltenia (+47), North-West (+36) and South-East (+6). Declines were recorded in the Bucharest-Ilfov development region (-84 permits).
In October 2017, a number of 3,861 building permits were issued for residential buildings, out of which 61.4 percent are for the rural area.
The regional distribution reveals a decline of the number of permits issued for the construction of residential buildings against September 2017, in the following development regions: North-East (-164 permits), North-West (-116), South-Muntenia (-59), South-West Oltenia (-57) and South-East (-32). Increases were recorded in the following regions: West (+131 permits), Bucharest-Ilfov (+120) and Center (+8).
