Prime Minister Florin Citu said on Wednesday that in the coming days he will continue discussions to speed up the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, and will have meetings on this topic with prefects, mayors, county council chairs and the Ministry of Education.
He also mentioned his meetings of the past days with representatives of the business community and religious denominations.
"In the coming days, I will have discussions with prefects, with (...) mayors, with chairs of the county councils; I will also discuss with the Ministry of Education, because everyone needs to get involved. Teachers, in rural areas... You know very well that leaders or the persons people trust are the doctors, the teachers, the priests, the mayors and so on, the family doctors, if they exist in that area. So, we will use all these resources," Citu at the Government House when asked about what the government will do to speed up the vaccination campaign in order to reach the target of 5 million immunised people by the end of May, agerpres.ro confirms.
He added that on Tuesday he also had a very good meeting with patient associations, stating that they announced their involvement in the vaccination campaign.
"NGOs, UNICEF, the World Health Organization, we are going on all fronts to be sure; and again, this five million and ten-million target is not a fad, just like that, to make a name for ourselves. No, it is an important threshold for us to get closer, to get back to normal; it is important for each of us to understand that if we want to get back to normal, to the life we had before the pandemic, we must get vaccinated. We have set these goals that coincide with the summer season, with the holiday season, when we were all more relaxed and we wanted, we want to get back to normal, and I think we will be able to get back there, as I see it," said Citu.
