Observing consumer rights is a constant concern of state institutions, and the state has an obligation to protect citizens and the economy, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said on Tuesday, on the occasion of the World Consumer Rights Day, Agerpres reports.
"Observing consumer rights is a constant concern of state institutions, whether we are talking about staple food, energy, financial services or any other product. The complicate time we are facing, marked by the overlapping of the energy and health crises, corroborated with the effects of the military aggression in Ukraine, show even more the need for the state authorities to mobilize and protect the citizens," said Nicolae Ciuca.
He also underscored that the actions of the institutions in charge, checks and controls, have the role of preventing some abusive or illegal practices, and they are done to the benefit of consumers, but also of the private environment that carries out its activity honestly.
"Controls started in the context of the increase in fuel prices prove this, which is why they will continue," Ciuca said.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that the Romanian state has an obligation to protect its citizens and the economy, including through measures that will contribute to the reshaping of consumption on a sound basis.
"The consumer-oriented attitude, the marketing of quality products at the right price, the provision of correct and complete information are decisive factors to overcome any crisis of confidence. And the dialogue initiated by the Romanian Government with the private environment and civil society is a solid prerequisite for offering social and economic stability. It is very important to understand that not only state institutions are part of the process of protecting the citizen, but we need the direct involvement of you, the citizens, to inform you correctly and to signal institutions responsible in relation to any abuse. Civil society is an extremely important partner of the Romanian Government," the message of Prime Minister Ciuca, on the World Consumer Rights Day, also says.
