Prime minister Viorica Dancila stated on Sunday evening at private TV station Romania TV that President Klaus Iohannis's decision regarding Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) is one that must fit from a legal standpoint and observe the Constitution, pointing out the fact that the Justice minister's report is a detailed, very well explained piece of work.
"I believe Mr. Klaus Iohannis must carefully read this report, all eyes are on him right now and upon reading this report he must take the necessary measures to show that in Romania law is sacred and must be observed by everyone," PM Dancila said.
The premier underscored that Tudorel Toader's report on DNA's head, Laura Codruta Kovesi is "detailed, well explained, with a lot of arguments, so as to fit within the boundaries of the law, to speak on behalf of a legal standpoint and not from that of some appreciations."
"The law must be at the forefront and must be observed by everyone (...) I do not think identifying one person with an institution is normal. (...) The important thing is not to shake the confidence in justice," Viorica Dancila further stated.
