National Liberal Party (PNL) on Monday decided at the meeting of the Executive Bureau on the content of the letter to be sent to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in which it asked for the notification of the Venice Commission on the ordinance modifying justice laws, leader of the party Ludovic Orban announced on Monday.
"We decided today on the content of the letter that we will send to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to ask for the notification of the Venice Commission on the ordinances issued by the Dancila government meant to modify justice laws. We are following the same procedure by which we managed to notify the Venice Commission before, regarding the modifications brought to the Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code and modifications brought to the justice laws. We ask PACE to notify the Venice Commission and we have very solid arguments to prove what is in fact obvious - that the modifications brought by the Government through the ordinance undermine justice independence, and that the magistrates are becoming victims of an instrument of political oppression invented by Dragnea and Tudorel Toader - and I refer now to the Special Section for Investigating Crimes Committed by Magistrates," stated Orban at the end of the meeting.
He brought to mind that PNL submitted a draft law that is meant to dissolve the Special Section for Investigating Crimes Committed by Magistrates, which he called a "guillotine prepared against the independent magistrates, who have the courage of investigating into the crimes committed by the powerful of the day."
