The PNL (National Liberal Party) chair, Ludovic Orban, on Tuesday night said the political parties' state subsidy should be slashed.
"We have not discussed this subject [in the coalition's meeting, ed. n.]. This subsidy must be slashed, in my opinion. We do not have elections until 2024, as such, it must be sized according to the normal and natural expenses of a political party, expenses that are for offices, for the staff working for the party, possibly expenses to ensure public communication with citizens," Orban said.
He added that he has not seen the amount allocated to the awaited rectification for the political parties' financing, but does not agree with its supplementation.
"As far as I am concerned, I have not spent a single penny of the party's funds on my presence at the county lectures or my presence at the procedure for presenting the motions. Of course, there are SPP [Guard and Protection Service, ed. n.] staff and the movement they make in accordance, which is not my will," the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies said.
Asked if he had any information that in the "other camp" (PM Citu's side, ed. n.) the trips are made on PNL money, he said: "I do not have such information and I am convinced that from the secretary general's point of view, even if he has another preference, there will be no subjectivity, that is, there will be equality of arms., Agerpres informs.
