National chairman of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea said on Monday that neither he, nor the party should take on the decision made by Justice Minister Tudorel Toader regarding the removal from office of prosecutor-in-chief of the National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA), explaining that there is a very clear institutional procedure.
"I don't have to take on anything, nor does the PSD, it's not about taking on. It's an institutional procedure that is very clearly defined in the law, (...) the PSD has no involvement here, nor does it want to get involved," Dragnea said at the Parliament House when asked if he takes responsibility for the decision made by Toader regarding the removal from office of Laura Codruta Kovesi.
He added that the justice minister's arguments regarding this topic should be analysed by the Presidential Administration and the President, who "will express a point of view sooner or later."
Asked if he takes into account the suspension of the head of state if he refused Kovesi's removal, Dragnea saod: "Absolutely not."
"We are definitely not taking into account suspending the president. Any discussion on this topic involving the PSD is fake," he said.
