Romania is taking a major leap in elite medical research, putting advanced technology directly at the service of patients, the Minister of Investments and European Projects, Marcel Bolos announced on Friday.

"Today we marked a decisive moment for the future of healthcare in Romania by launching the strategic project 'Dr. Laser'. Romania is taking a major leap in elite medical research, putting advanced technology directly at the service of patients. The project benefits from generous funding of 35 million euros to develop new, more precise and efficient methods of cancer diagnosis and treatment, using innovative technologies, such as high-power lasers", Marcel Bolos wrote on Facebook.

According to the cited source, the "Dr. Laser" project revolutionizes the treatment and diagnosis of cancer through state-of-the-art technologies, such as high-power lasers, heavy ion therapy and high-precision imaging. "With the help of the exceptional infrastructure at ELI-NP in Magurele and internationally recognized Romanian specialists, we will develop minimally invasive, precise and accessible treatments here, at home," the minister of Investments and European Projects pointed out, Agerpres informs.

He stressed that the initiative is part of a broader strategy that he proposed in his previous mandate as European Projects minister, in which he had already initiated other fundamental projects, namely the Genomics Institute - for the development of personalized medicine through advanced genetic analysis; the Cantacuzino Institute - restored to its strategic role in vaccine production and immunological research; Bucharest Oncology Institute (IOB) - equipped with modern technologies and innovative treatments for cancer patients.

Bolos also mentioned the Hydrogen Hub, which paves the way for clean, sustainable energy and energy independence, and RATEN - the center of excellence in nuclear research to ensure safe and sustainable energy.

"When these projects come to life, we will truly be able to talk about a concrete and huge impact on health, quality of life and the sustainable future of Romania. We are determined to make Romania a regional leader in medical research and technological innovation, and this vision only becomes reality through determination, responsibility and strategic action," the minister of Investments and European Projects wrote on Facebook.
