Romania to host 2025 World Youth Table Tennis Championships
Romania will host the World Youth Table Tennis Championships in 2025, in Cluj-Napoca, Chairman of the Romanian Table Tennis Federation (FRTM) Cristi Romanescu announced on Wednesday in a social media post, told Agerpres.
At a summit of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) in Bangkok , Thailand, Romania's opponent for hosting the competition was Bahrain.
"We congratulate the Bahrain Table Tennis Federation, a strong Asian competitor, on theirfair play! I want to thank my team, the FRTM team, I want to thank the general secretary, Adriana Zamfir, the deputy general secretary Cristian Cretu and, always by my side, Beatrice Romanescu! I also want to thank the athletes and coaches, as their performances are our engine!" said Romanescu.
In 2025, FRTM will celebrate 95 years since joining ITTF.
The last World Table Tennis Championship hosted by Romania was in 1953, when Angelica Rozeanu won four world titles.
Romania also hosted the 2021 European Table Tennis Championships, the 2022 European Under-21 Table Tennis Championship, and the2018 STAG European Youth Championships, all in Cluj-Napoca.
