Elena Lasconi, chairwoman of the Save Romania Union (USR), said on Saturday, in a message on the occasion of the Romanian Language Day celebrations in our country and in the Republic of Moldova, that "the Romanian language binds us, unites us, brings us together".

"It is the language in which I dream, it is the language in which I love the most to tell the people around me what I feel for them - the Romanian language. The Romanian language is part of our DNA, it is our identity and we have the joy of celebrating it today both in Bucharest and in Chisinau. The Romanian language binds us, unites us, brings us together. We celebrate the Romanian Language Day with the same joy on both sides of the Prut and I am sure that we will continue to enrich it with new meanings," wrote the USR leader in a message posted on her Facebook page.

Elena Lasconi also added that she hopes that the Romanian language will be spoken by as many Romanians as possible "at home".

"Let us not forget what a beautiful language we have, how much music is in our words and, even if it is a pleasure to hear it in any corner of the world we get to, I hope that more and more Romanians will speak it at home," the USR leader added.

The Romanian Language Day is celebrated on August 31, having been established in Romania by Law 53/2013. The Romanian Language Day has been celebrated in the Republic of Moldova since 1990.
