Statistical Institute: Romanian managers estimate increase in prices in all fields of activity in the following months

Romanian managers estimate, for the period February - April 2025, a relative stability of economic activity in the manufacturing industry, construction and services and an increase in prices in all areas of activity of the economy, according to data published on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

Within the context of the economic survey of February 2025, managers in the manufacturing industry forecast relative stability of production volume for the next three months (short-term balance +4%). Regarding the number of employees, a moderate decrease is estimated, the short-term balance being -7%. For the prices of industrial products, an increase is forecast in the next three months (short-term balance +25%).

According to the estimates of February 2025, in the construction activity, relative stability of production volume will be recorded for the next three months (short-term balance +5%). Managers estimate relative stability of the number of employees (short-term balance -5%). As for the prices of construction works, their increase is expected (short-term balance +33%).

In the retail sector, managers have estimated for the next three months a moderate growth in economic activity (short-term balance +15%). The volume of orders addressed to suppliers of goods by commercial units will register a moderate increase (short-term balance +15%). Employers forecast for the next three months a moderate increase in the number of employees (short-term balance +13%). Managers of commercial companies estimate an increase in retail prices (short-term balance +35%).

According to estimates from February 2025, the demand for services (turnover) will saw a relative stability in the next three months (short-term balance +2%). Managers in the service sector predict relative stability in the number of employees (short-term balance 0%). According to the managers' opinion, the selling or invoicing prices of services will tend to increase (short-term balance +19%).

The INS specifies that the short-term balance indicates the perception of enterprise managers on the dynamics of a phenomenon that should not be confused with the rate of increase or decrease of any statistical indicator produced by the INS. The short-term balance percentage is obtained as the difference between the percentage of managers who chose the positive version of the phenomenon and the percentage of those who indicated the negative version.
