President Klaus Iohannis will receive on Thursday, at Cotroceni Presidential Palace, the President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset, who will start on Wednesday an official visit to Romania, according to a release from the Presidential Administration according to Agerpres.
The two senior officials will tackle ways to develop bilateral relations, issues related to the main topics on the European agenda, including the Swiss financial contribution to the EU Cohesion Fund, as well as regional topics.
"The visit to Romania takes place within the context of the intensification of the bilateral dialogue and the taking over by our country of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2019, respectively. Thus, the discussions will also focus on Switzerland's relationship with the European Union," the release informs.
President Klaus Iohannis will present on this occasion the priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and will assure the Swiss side that Romania will continue to support, including from this position, the promotion of an open and constructive dialogue, mutually beneficial, between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation in all aspects of this relationship.
Alain Berset's visit takes place at the invitation of President Klaus Iohannis.
