The White Night of Romanian Film this year is set to showcase a record number of movies, with dozens of screenings shown simultaneously in 15 cinema theaters and alternative venues in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara on September 15, the organizers announced.

"Now at its 14th edition, the Romanian film marathon will bring to cinema halls a record number of film previews, as well as the most beloved Romanian productions of the year, alongside actors, directors and screenwriters. The program includes dozens of simultaneous screenings in 15 movie theaters and alternative spaces in the three host cities," the source says, agerpres reports.

Moviegoers will have the opportunity to watch award-winners at major national and international festivals, such as Tudor Giurgiu's feature Libertate/Freedom, a winner of the Award of the International Confederation of Art Cinemas at the Sarajevo Festival and of the TIFF 2023 Audience Award, inspired by real events of the 1989 Revolution. The film team will be present at the event and will take questions from the audience at the end of the screening.

Other previews are Tigru/Tiger, the debut film of director Andrei Tanase, and Sebastian Mihailescu's drama feature Mammalia, which had its world premiere in February, at the Berlin International Film Festival.

"The bill of this edition includes the preview screening of the documentary De ce mă cheamă Nora când cerul meu e senin/Why Is My Name Nora When my Sky is Clear, directed by Carla Teaha, Cazul Inginerului Ursu/The Case of Engineer Ursu (directed by Liviu Tofan and Serban Georgescu), Vlad Petri's Intre Revolutii/Between Revolutions, the romantic comedy Dragoste pe muchie de cutit/Knife-edge Love (by Alin Panc). Some of the feature films that enjoy the appreciation of both the audiences and critics to be seen on September 15 are David, directed by Radu Muntean; Arsenie. Viata de apoi/Arsenie. The Afterlife (directed by Alexandru Solomon); Sotul meu musulman/My Muslim Husband (directed by Daniel Barnuti and Alexandra Barnuti); Vulturii din Taga/The Taga Eagles (directed by Adina Popescu and Iulian Ghervase), or the comedy Incă două lozuri/Another Lottery Ticket (directed by Paul Negoescu)," the organizers say.

The White Night of Romanian Film is an event organized by the Romanian Film Promotion Association with the support of the National Cinematography Centre.
