As many as 36 foreign citizens were expelled under escort from Romanian territory in October, while just one applied for a voluntary repatriation, informed the General Inspectorate for Immigrations (IGI).
According to IGI, the Immigrations policemen took the specific measures of removing the 37 foreign citizens, aged 19-57, from Romanian territory.
Among them, 30 were taken into public custody and remained under escort until they were crossed the country border, while the other seven were taken out within 24 hours. Most foreigners were discovered while trying to illegally cross the Romanian border, said the source.
As many as 16 of them, coming from Albania, China, India, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, Moldova, Serbia, Pakistan, Ukraine and Latvia, were crossed the border under escort, while 12 people coming from Pakistan were taken under escort back in their country. Eight people were transferred, according to the Dublin Procedure, to a state member responsible for assessing their international protection claims.
As an alternative to forced removal, one person chose to file for the voluntary humanitarian repatriation and left the country with the support of the International Organisation for Migration.
