Romania's final consumption of electricity went up 4 percent in the first nine months of this year, to 40.8 TWh, compared to the similar period of 2015, according to the data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The households consumption increased 0.7 percent and public lighting, 1.6 percent, so that the total advance of 4 percent is widely owed to the increase in the industrial consumption.
In the assessed period, the primary energy resource went down 1.8 percent, and the electricity resources declined from the same period of the previous year by 0.2 percent.
Production in thermal power plants stood at 18.682 billion KWh, down 6.1 percent. Production in hydro power plants was 15.181 billion KWh, increasing 16.2 percent, and that in the nuclear power plant stood at 8.266 billion KWh, down 3.4 percent.
Production in wind power plants stood at 4.611 billion KWh, down 734.9 million Kwh from the same period of last year, and solar energy produced in photovoltaic installations in this period accounted for 1.609 billion Kwh, dropping some 72.8 million KWh from the corresponding period of 2015.
At the same time, the INS data show that in the first nine months the gas imports increased 465 percent, while domestic production went down 13.5 percent.
