Ivanus (APBPM): Romania has 50,000 people deficit in IT this year

This year Romania has a deficit of 50,000 people on the job market in the IT sector, stated on Wednesday, Cristian Ivanus, the president of the Association of Business Process Management Professionals, during the conference "How the digital revolution is reshaping the workforce," organized by the European Institute in Romania.

"We talk about the internet revolution, the Digital Agenda, curbing bureaucracy in Romania, all these are extraordinary things, however, we have a deficit of people in IT. Do you know the deficit of IT specialists in the job market this year? We're talking about 50,000 people. Think of all the IT companies that want to do something or work for foreigners, they have swallowed all the workforce and there is none left. Why is that happening? This is a challenge that I launch for individual sessions. What can we do to cover the necessary workforce? Do you think that universities, higher education institutions are completely in sync with the needs and requirements of the job market? The answer is negative. So why do we keep delivering graduates who will not find jobs? Why do we have to enroll everyone in universities and not create professional schools that can deliver what is expected on the job market?," Ivanus said.

According to him, the outsourcing companies generate 30 pct of the GDP in the services area.

"Outsourcing companies keep searching for people and generate 30 pct of the GDP, in the services area. We need people. There are no employees. Everything is very nice with the digital revolution and all, but we don't have people. This is what we have to think of," the president of the Association of Business Process Management Professionals further stated.
