A new 4.3 magnitude earthquake hits Vrancea area on Monday morning

A new 4.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea county, on Monday, 150 kilometers far from Bucharest, after another with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred on Sunday night, according to the National Research-Development Institute for Earth Physics, Agerpres reports.

Thus, on Monday, at 9.32 am, there was an average earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 on the Richter scale, which occurred at a depth of 140 km.

The earthquake took place 74 km east of Brasov, 96 km south of Bacau, 96 km northeast of Ploiesti, 121 km west of Galati, 123 km northwest of Braila, 149 km north of Bucharest, 164 km northeast de Pitesti, 178 km southwest of Iasi, 186 km east of Sibiu and 213 km north of Ruse (in Bulgaria).

Earlier, at 12.30 am, another 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the same region, Vrancea.

In March 2022, six earthquakes took place in Romania, with magnitudes ranging between 2.4 and 4.3.
