Vaccination in Romania is free, voluntary and is performed using vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency, said on Thursday Chairman of Romania's National COVID-19 Vaccination Coordination Committee (CNCAV) Valeriu Gheorghita asked to react to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) recently announcing that compulsory childhood vaccination might be necessary in a democratic society.

He denied that such a thing had been taken into account by Romania, agerpres.ro confirms.

"That is not the case. This issue has never been discussed either Once again, vaccination in Romania is free, it is voluntary and it is done using vaccines authorised by the European Medicines Agency," Gheorghita said.

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on Thursday ruled that obligatory vaccinations can be seen as necessary in democratic societies, in a landmark judgement after a complaint brought by Czech families over compulsory jabs for children, according to the AFP news agency that cites from a ruling of the Grand Chamber published on Thursday.
