The EU community condemns Russia's attacks against civilians and civilian objectives in Ukraine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, said on Monday, requesting the Russian Federation to immediately stop its military actions.

The head of the Romanian diplomacy is taking part in the sitting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of EU member states - The Council for Foreign Affairs (FAC), which is taking place in Brussels.

"Regarding Russia's aggression against Ukraine, we are closely monitoring talks between Russians and Ukrainians in order to solve this conflict. But, for this to have a result, Russia needs to immediately halt its military activity in Ukraine. We are requesting Russia to end military aggression and to evacuate its troops from Ukraine. At the same time, we condemn the fact that civilians have died and Russia's attacks against civilians and civilian objectives," Aurescu said, before the reunion.

"We must do all that we can to counter war propaganda and disinformation, which is practiced by Russia in Ukraine and about Ukraine's conflict. Furthermore, we need to see what we can do to isolate Russia even more in international forums. I believe that it is important to collaborate more in order to isolate Russia on the international arena," he pointed out.

"Last, but not least, we need to handle the humanitarian situation and waves of refugees. Romania, which has the largest extended border with Ukraine, is making efforts in order to manage this situation," he said.

Thus, Aurescu mentioned that over 526,000 Ukrainians have entered Romania since the beginning of the conflict and reminded of the green corridors between the Republic of Moldova and our country.

The authorities in Chisinau are "overwhelmed by the number of refugees," the Romanian minister said, who also made an appeal for supporting the Republic of Moldova at the level of EU. Furthermore, he spoke about the European perspective of the Republic of Moldova and Georgia.

"I believe that they deserve being part of the European family," Aurescu said.
