First Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans is paying a visit on Thursday to Romania, where he is to be welcomed by President Klaus Iohannis, the two heads of Parliament, Calin Popescu-Tariceanu and Liviu Dragnea, respectively and the Prime minister, Viorica Dancila.
At noon, the EC's high official will be welcomed at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace by Romania's President, Klaus Iohannis.
Shortly after, he will have a meeting with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, and as of 15:45 hrs Timmermans will hold a news conference at the European Commission's Representative in Romania.
Frans Timmermans will also meet the representatives of the Romanian judiciary.
The EC's First Vice President Timmermans has previously said that he is expecting on the Romanian authorities' behalf to offer him explanations regarding the proposal of removing from office the Chief Prosecutor of the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA), Laura-Codruta Kovesi.
"I will meet her [Kovesi, ed. n.] and the Justice Minister (Tudorel Toader, ed. n.) to listen to their argumentation," the EC's First Vice President has said on Tuesday to the caleaeuropeana.ro, in Brussels.
