The politically independent position of deputy prime minister for reform requires the person in office to have a set of special attributes, so "finding that special person is not that easy", declared the government's spokesperson Ioana Dogioiu on Thursday, when asked in a press conference at the Victoria Palace if there is a short list of proposals for a new deputy prime minister for reform to replace Dragos Anastasiu, considering that more than a month has passed since the prime minister took over this position in a caretaker capacity.
Dogioiu replied: "When there is a replacement for Mr. Anastasiu, so a new deputy prime minister proposed to the president to appoint by decree, you will definitely learn about that."
"It is a position that requires certain rather special attributes of the person in question, because the incumbent should be apolitical, as Mr. Anastasiu was, this is not a position a party should make appointments to, and which must liaise the civil society to the business environment and the government. This set of rather special attributes makes the process not so easy," said Dogioiu.
Regarding the duration of caretaker terms in office, she added that "it is preferable that they be as short as possible," but then brought to mind Emil Boc's stint as caretaker prime minister that lasted from September to February, and the more recent time of Catalin Predoiu as caretaker prime minister after the resignation of Prime Minister Ciolacu, which was in excess of 45 days. "So, of course, it is preferable for the term to be short, but when a replacement is found and a new deputy prime minister is picked by the prime minister, we will let you know," Dogioiu said.
