The Romanian Court of Accounts received a visit on Thursday from a group of students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the "Aurel Vlaicu" University in Arad, the institution announced on its Facebook page.
The meeting was an opportunity for dialogue between young people preparing to embrace professions dedicated to the public interest and specialists who define the standards of specific activities.
Mirela Calugareanu, President of the Court of Accounts, gave a presentation in which she spoke about the institution's contribution to achieving good governance of public entities, but also about the need for permanent adaptation to new technologies and artificial intelligence tools. She also emphasized the Court's openness to the new generation and the formative role that such meetings have.
"I enjoy working with young people and I believe that it is necessary to be aware of the importance of preparing for the change of generations. Our maturity and experience, combined with your energy and enthusiasm, create the premises for success. Our profession is not just about numbers - it means a deep understanding of legislation and analytical thinking, in which collaboration and complementarity in the team play a determining role. It is important that each of us understands the responsibility we have in this complex mechanism of public management, so that the results of our work are relevant, credible and citizen-oriented," said Mirela Calugareanu, President of the Court of Accounts of Romania, according to the post.
The President of the Romanian Court of Accounts was joined by Silvia Toma, an expert in external public auditing. With solid experience in the field, she spoke to the students about the role of critical thinking and professional integrity.
"An auditor is not just an expert in numbers. He needs critical and analytical thinking. The career is seen as an edifice - which has a foundation and supporting columns. The foundation is given by professional probity, knowledge, accumulation and learning, and the supporting columns - by ethical, moral probity, balance and mutual respect," said Silvia Toma.
