Six infant patients diagnosed with hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) are currently admitted to the Marie Curie hospital in Bucharest, the Health Ministry informs in a statement sent to AGERPRES.
"Currently there are 6 children diagnosed with the hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) admitted to the Bucharest health care unit. There hasn't been any new admission with this diagnosis," the source said.
According to the Health Ministry, the condition of the infant patient admitted at the intensive care section (ATI), subject to peritoneal dialysis procedures without being intubated "continues to be serious, but stable." The other 5 children are admitted to the Nephrology section, with 2 of them subject to peritoneal dialysis, the statement adds.
Health Minister Patriciu Achimas Cadariu announced that Health Ministry experts have completed the set of measures and recommendations on hygiene rules, norms of behavior in groups and health education that will be disseminated in education units by means of school inspectorates.
"We have already sent the document to representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research," the Health Minister stated.
The official added that he was waiting for the outcome of the investigations currently underway and in addition, for the conclusions of the checks conducted by the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA).
Moreover, the Health Ministry experts are providing full support to ANSVSA representatives to identify causes of food-borne illness affecting the infants.
"In the past 24 hours, nationwide, 7 cases of acute diarrhea were reported to the National Institute of Public Health, without HUS," the statement adds.
On Sunday the Health Minister visited the Marie Curie Hospital in the capital, where he checked on the condition of the infant patients admitted and held talks with hospital staff. AGERPRES
