Over 20 academics and local administration representatives from Italy, France, Portugal and Finland participate in a European conference on the digitization of cultural heritage, an event organized in Iasi September 1 - 5 within the framework of the CHARME project, the Iasi City Hall said in a release.
In its capacity as a partner, the municipality is implementing through the International Relations Service the CHARME - Digital Cultural Heritage Activity acRoss Multiple European Regions project, financed through the INTERREG EUROPE 2021 - 2027 Territorial Cooperation Operational Programme, in partnership with four other city halls and a university: Pavia City Hall (Italy) - project leader, Poitiers City Hall (France), Coimbra City Hall (Portugal), Turku City Hall (Finland), the University of Pavia (advisory partner) and the Lviv European Integration Bureau in Ukraine (discovery partner), which have all been collaborating for over five years now within the European Campus of City-Universities Alliance (EC2U).
"The themes approached by the CHARME project are intended to valorize the cultural heritage as a cornerstone for building a shared European identity and fostering innovation, creativity, and economic development. The digitization of the cultural heritage opens up new opportunities for reuse, supporting the development of innovative services and creative products across multiple fields such as the restoration and conservation of cultural heritage, conservation management, environmental impact, citizen involvement - youth in particular, promoting social inclusion through culture," the Iasi City Hall said in the release.
The project conference and the presentation of best practices at the Iasi municipality on the topic "Digitization of cultural heritage, youth inclusion and involvement" will take place on September 2 at the Voivodes' Hall of the Palace of Culture, with prestigious representatives of the academic environment from Iasi and Italy, experts, representatives of European museums and public authorities attending, Agerpres informs.
"This conference aims to facilitate the establishment of liasions with representatives of universities, museums and local authorities from Italy, France, Portugal and Finland who are participating in the event, but it is also a good opportunity to promote the values of the city, to exchange best practices at European level and to identify new opportunities for cultural and academic collaboration," the cited source notes.
Two models of best practices implemented by the 'Moldova' National Museum Complex will also be presented at the conference, specifically the Exploration of the Iasi Princely Court through VR and 3D models, and the MuzeAR app, and in the following days the project will continue with guided study visits to other models of best practices implemented in the municipality of Iasi, namely the Memory Trail and Art Code - a virtual excursion into the city's living heritage.
