There is a "too strong" dependence on certain regions and states for the economies of the European Union, President Klaus Iohannis said on Monday, adding that alternatives are being sought.

The head of state is participating, on Monday and Tuesday, in Brussels, at the third Summit of the European Union - Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (EU - CELAC).

"The discussion on resources is one that we have held repeatedly in the Council and we will continue. It is very clear that, due to certain strategic errors, I would call them, there is a too strong dependence on certain regions and states for the economies of the European Union. So, we are looking for alternatives. There are alternatives and some can be used immediately, others require a little longer preparation. We also had such discussions in Romania and we want to position ourselves well enough, but at this summit I don't think it is yet the moment to go into these details. But, the topic is extremely important, we are connected and we are working on it", Iohannis pointed out. AGERPRES
