Media cover Recycling in Romania programme in over 500 news stories

The local mass-media have produced more than 500 news stories covering Recycling in Romania campaign, and the equivalent advertising value exceeds half a million euros, Director of Communications with the Ministry of the Environment, Waters and Forestry Mihai Dragan said on Tuesday, told Agerpres.

"Dear media colleagues, I want to ask you to remember when I launched this campaign. At last year's conference, I made an appeal to you. I said then that the most important thing in terms of our relationship with the media, from the perspective of this campaign, is for you to talk in the newsrooms about this waste management system, but especially about their separate collection. Today, I want to thank those of you who answered our call and I want to give you a figure. I have gathered over 500 news stories about the campaign, about separate collection, about the programmes of the Ministry of the Environment in this regard and about the regional conferences that we organised. I did a number crunching and I got the figure of two news stories day. And this is due to you, because it was not included in the budget of this campaign, but we calculated it. We are talking about an equivalent advertising value that exceeds half a million euros, and that is why we want to thank you for that", said Dragan.

He explained that on three social media almost 6 million users followed the campaign. Also, a number of 15 million views were reached during the 10 months of the campaign.

"We have more than 120 separate online campaigns, more than 700 posts on social media and we have built, developed from scratch more than 70 video clips that have been communicated in the online environment... and yes, it has worked, I guarantee you that it worked. We had three distinct advertising productions for television and they were also adapted for radio," said Dragan.

Recycling in Romania is the first national campaign of its kind developed by MMAP in partnership with the Environment Fund Administration (AFM), designed to increase the level of information and awareness of the importance of separate waste collection. The communication campaign is an integrated one, broadcast on the most proeminent television channels and radio stations and social media communication component, based on the communication of educational and funny spots about separate collection aimed at children, teenagers and young people.
