The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, signed, on Friday, financing contracts of over 167 million RON with 105 other public entities for investments in new capacities to produce electricity from renewable sources for self-consumption, financed from the Modernization Fund, informs a press release sent on Saturday to AGERPRES.
According to the quoted source, the approach reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Energy for a sustainable energy future, based on clean and efficient technologies, for the benefit of all communities in Romania.
The projects aim to support investments in new electricity production capacities from renewable sources for self-consumption for public entities. The total value of the financed projects is approximately 167.5 million RON (33.6 million euros), of which the total value of non-refundable financing from the Modernization Fund is 143.309 million RON (28.8 million euros). The total installed capacity is 23.01 MW.
"We are marking a new important day for Romania's energy future. By signing these contracts, we are taking concrete steps closer to a modern Romania, where every community has access to clean energy and at fair prices. These projects, which will mean the creation of photovoltaic parks for communities throughout the country, bring us closer to our goal of transforming the national energy system, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. The most important beneficiaries remain the citizens, who will directly feel the positive effects of these projects: lower bills, a cleaner environment and an improved quality of life. At the same time, the investments signed today create jobs and bring long-term prosperity to local communities," said Sebastian Burduja, the Minister of Energy, quoted in the press release.
Until now, the Ministry of Energy has signed and financed 633 contracts from this call, with a total value of 1.686 billion RON (339 million euros), of which 1.461 billion RON (294 million euros), non-refundable funds coming from the Modernization Fund.
The total installed capacity will be 237.4 MW. These investments offer localities and public institutions the opportunity to build and operate photovoltaic parks, significantly reducing energy costs. In many cases, these capacities cover up to 70% of the energy needs of institutions, from public lighting to the operation of schools and hospitals, Agerpres informs.
The beneficiaries who signed the 105 financing contracts are from the counties: Arges, Alba, Bacau, Bihor, Bistrita-Nasaud, Botosani, Brasov, Buzau, Caras-Severin, Calarasi, Constanta, Cluj, Covasna, Dambovita, Dolj, Galati, Gorj, Hunedoara, Ialomita, Maramures, Mehedinti, Mures, Neamt, Olt, Prahova, Salaj, Sibiu, Suceava, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, Vaslui and Vrancea.
