National Liberal Party (PNL) MPs announced on Wednesday that they will notify the Constitutional Court in respect to the two laws that Parliament has recently adopted, the one modifying the functioning the National Integrity Agency (ANI), as well as the law 303/2004 referring to the magistrates' statute.
"PNL has completed the challenges with the CCR on the law modifying the functioning of the National Integrity Agency by invalidating all decisions confirmed in court of this agency in the period 2007 - 2013 by Romania's Parliament members. In fact, the PSD [Social Democratic Party] misdeeds unprecedentedly marked the manner of relating to the two state institutions, Romania's Parliament and Justice, because through ANI's functioning law courts final decisions have been practically annulled," PNL deputies' leader Raluca Turcan said.
In the notification, PNL maintains that all provisions of the normative act for the modification of law no 176/2010 on integrity in exerting public offices and dignities, for the modification and supplementing of law 144/2007 on the establishment, organisation and functioning of the National Integrity Agency, as well as for the modification and supplementing of other normative acts are unconstitutional and, consequently, asks the CCR to find that it is unconstitutional in its entirety.
