PNL (National Liberal Party) leader Florin Citu on Monday said that the coalition government did not discuss of maybe changing energy minister Virgil Popescu, noting that the Liberals haven't felt any pressure from "the compromise partners from PSD (Social Democratic Party)" in this respect either, in the same way that the Liberals do not put pressure "on those who are responsible for more than 100 deaths daily or for the inflation that exceeds 10pct or the higher interest rates."

"This we haven't discussed [the reshuffle of the minister of energy - editor's note]. I am glad that, in the end, we did understand and our compromise partners from PSD also understood that the solution comes from the government. It does not come from the political parties. The government, together with ANRE (the National Regulatory Authority in the Energy Field) and the other institutions involved, they will come up with one, two, three solutions. At the coalition we will make the best decision for the Romanians," said Citu, when asked about the fact that some people voiced dissatisfaction at the previous meeting of the coalition with the minister of energy, who did not come up with proposals of solutions for the energy situation after April 1, and whether there was a possibility of reshuffling.

He added that the solutions must come from the government and that he hasn't felt any pressure from PSD regarding the situation of the minister of energy.

"No, now, honestly, we don't feel any pressure, in the same way in which we're not putting pressure on those who are responsible for more than 100 deaths daily or for the inflation who is now past 10pct or the higher interest rates and so on. The solutions have to come from the government," said the PNL leader, when asked if he felt pressure from the Social Democrats in relation to the minister of energy.

Florin Citu also specified that they haven't discussed in the coalition about a possible assessment of the ministers's activity either.

Government spokesman Dan Carbunaru on Monday said that dismissing a minister is and remains the responsibility of the prime minister, and no such issue had been discussed.

He made the remarks following "new speculation about the possibility of removing a member of the government., Agerpres informs.
