Romanian tennis player Marius Copil reached on Wednesday the main draw of the men's singles event of the ATP's Indian Wells Masters 1000, with prizes worth 6,993,450 US dollars, after defeating US Denis Kudla in the final qualifying round, with a score of 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Copil (aged 26), ATP's 11th, his best ranking so far, defeated Kudla (aged 24, ATP's 130th) in one hour and 40 minutes. The tennis player of Ukrainian origin had won the only previous event he had against Copil, in 2013, in Basel, in qualifications, with a score of 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Marius Copil scored 11 aces and made five double errors (Kudla made 6 errors) and secured a 13,690 US dollar cheque and 25 points in the ATP.
