Editors from the weekly German Banater Zeitung in western Timisoara are organizing on Thursday, in the village of Lenauheim, the traditional "tasting of Banat sausages" / "Worschkoschtprob", and donations gathered for this event will be redirected to helping Ukrainian refugees.
"We are continuing tradition. "Worschkoschtprob" was initially in the 70's an event which took place in the news room, where the readers would gather for tasting and for the contest, samples of home-made sausages, the jury being actually the editors of the paper. The day of the event was published only in NeueBanater Zeitung, which is why only the newspaper's readers would participate. For the paper it was a good opportunity for strengthening relations between editors and readers," the organizers report, in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.
Starting with the year 1995, the Banater Zeitung publication decided to organize a public manifestation, further relying on the people of Banat's passion for sausages. The success was ensured by the presence of hundreds of friends of the newspaper. Thus, after many years when the event only took place in the Casa Adam Muller Guttenbrunn in Timisoara, events such as this also took place in Sannicolau Mare (2012), Lugoj (2013), Santana (2014, Radna / Lipova (2016), Bocsa (2017), Sag (2018), Buzias (201) and Biled (2020). In 2021, because of the pandemic, the event did not took place.
