Dacia CEO: Renault Group Romania investments at 2.4 bln euros, more to follow

Renault's investments in Romania so far stand at 2.4 billion euros and new investments are already planned for the coming years in upgrading and the renewal of the product range, Dacia Automobile CEO Yves Caracatzanis said on Thursday.

All activities of the automotive world are gathered under the umbrella of Renault Group in Romania (...) as well as an important network of suppliers. Romania is the only country where all Renault Group's activities are brought together and this is why exchanges between France and Romania are so important. We invested 2.4 billion euros since 1999 (...) and plans are already afoot for major investments in the coming years, for the plant's modernization, as well as for the renewal of the product range, said Caracatzanis at the end of Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos' visit to the Mioveni-based Dacia plant.

The Dacia Automobile CEO added that he presented the PM a set of figures that prove that Dacia is Romania's largest company by turnover, accounting for 3 pct of GDP and 8 pct of Romania's exports, but that the talks also envisaged other aspects of interest to foreign investors. The talks envisaged topics important for us and for the economic activity, such as increasing the sales of new vehicles, promoting competitiveness and measures to stimulate investors and economy overall, such as infrastructure, and retaining Romanian talents in the country, said Caracatzanis.
