ForMins Comanescu and Waszczykowski appreciate Romania-Poland strategic and security dialogue

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Lazar Comanescu on Thursday had talks with his Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski on Thursday, as both officials participated in security consultations in the Poland - Romania - Turkey three-party format in Warsaw, the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informed Agerpres.

"The two ministers appreciated the consistency and pace of the Romanian-Polish bilateral dialogue, both on the political level and as regards the specialized collaboration; both components give substance and dynamism to the strategic partnership between the two countries, launched in 2009," a MAE release reads. According to the source, Comanescu and Waszczykowski have also reviewed briefly the implementation stage of the new Action Plan 2016 - 2020, signed by the two ministers on 21 December 2015 in Bucharest, a document incorporated in the Strategic Partnership.

"On this occasion, appreciation was expressed particularly for the dialogue on a strategic and security level, for the cooperation in infrastructure, culture and education, in the internal affairs, and for the economic cooperation," the release adds. The two top diplomats also exchanged opinions on the current evolutions on regional and European levels. "With reference to the migration problems, minister Lazar Comanescu stressed that Romania remains a partner acting solidarily on a European level; he recalled the support granted by our country to solving the current crisis, including by a substantial contribution to the FRONTEX," the document states.

The two officials also talked about the situation in the Eastern neighbourhood. The Romanian minister presented the recent evolutions in the bilateral dialogue with the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine and insisted on the need to maintain the Eastern neighbourhood among the European Union's priorities.

Lazar Comanescu and Witold Waszczykowski also inaugurated the Polish-Romanian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the release adds.
