Romania's Crown Princess Margareta and Prince Radu on Friday started an official visit to Sweden at the invitation of Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to attend the events on the 70th birth anniversary of King Carl and attend a church service at the Romanian Christian Orthodox Bishopric of Stockholm on the second day of Easter.
The Romanian Royal House says in press statement on Friday that this is its third official visit abroad in 2016, after Prince Radu's visits to Turkey and Moldova earlier this April.
While in Stockholm, Margareta will visit the Swedish Red Cross to meet its chair.
Over the past two decades, Romania's Royal Family vested Sweden nine times. In 1996, King Mihai I and Princess Margareta attended the 50th anniversary of King Carl XVI Gustaf, while in 2006 Princess Margareta and Prince Radu attend the king's 60th anniversary in 2006.
King Mihai paid an official visit to Sweden in 2002 to support Romania's bid for European Union membership, while in 2010 the Romanian Royal Family attended the wedding of Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. Prince Radu visited Sweden in 2006, 2014 and 2015.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia came on a state visit to Romania in 2003.
