The social-democrats wish to form a stable majority in the General Council of the Bucharest Municipality (CGMB), in Bucharesters' interest, but if it's not possible, they won't beg Nicusor Dan, Social Democrat Party (PSD) chairman Liviu Dragnea said on Monday.

"Gabriela Firea [PSD's mayor-elect of Bucharest - author's note] has made an honest, correct offer to [second-placed] Mr. Nicusor Dan, only in the interest of Bucharesters. I've seen last night that Mr. Nicusor Dan refused explicitly this offer of collaboration within the General Council, to form a solid majority with us, so that the important projects for Bucharest are approved, so that in the CGMB and in the City Hall there are no malfunctions and the administrative act is very fluent. We, as a party, and Mrs. Mayor cannot stay forever with hands stretched, from a very simple reason: she really has work to do. After being sworn in, she and her colleague mayors of Bucharest's districts will start working; we won't stall in political negotiations. If until a majority is shaped in the CGMB they will come to their senses, Mrs. General Mayor and my colleagues general counselors will gladly participate in this collaboration. If not, (...) Mrs. Firea didn't win the Mayoralty to beg permanently some people who won't collaborate," Dragnea said at the headquarters of the PSD.

On Sunday night, the Save Bucharest Union (USB) mayoral hopeful Nicusor Dan announced he won't accept a deputy mayor position, and that the USB representatives within the CGMB and within local councils will only vote the good projects for the Bucharest citizens.
