A proactive approach to cybersecurity is needed, with an emphasis on continuous education, transnational collaboration and the fast implementation of new protection technologies, is the conclusion of a specialist event organized on Friday under the auspices of the Switzerland - Romania Chamber of Commerce and the Swiss Webacademy, a release informs.
The event titled "Navigating your business through the digital storm. A cybersecurity roadmap for turbulent times" brought together top experts in the field of cybersecurity and technological innovation and focused on the current and future challenges in the digital security landscape.
Also attending was Swiss ambassador to Romania Massimo Baggi, who emphasized the importance of international collaboration for strengthening cyber resilience. With Switzerland designated for the 14th consecutive year as the most innovative country in the world, according to the Global Innovation Index 2024, the focus on cybersecurity and innovation becomes essential.
Some of the topics approached at the event were: the resolutions of the Switzerland - Romania Chamber of Commerce Working Group for IT & Cybersecurity for the coming year; Swiss perspectives on the cybersecurity landscape; technological horizons of 2025: emerging technologies, cyber threats and innovation strategies.
According to the cited source, Switzerland plays an essential role in the field of cybersecurity, through the 2024 - 2027 National CyberSecurity Strategy which aims to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructures, develop international cooperation and support innovation in the field of cybersecurity technologies. According to the Swiss Federal Administration, one of the main goals is to create a robust cyber ecosystem, capable of facing sophisticated attacks.
Switzerland also contributes to international initiatives, such as the Global Forum for Cyber Expertise (GFCE), fostering the exchange of information and the development of advanced data protection solutions. Swiss universities, including ETH Zurich, are actively involved in cybersecurity research, developing innovative technologies for the protection of critical digital infrastructures.
Addressing the audience were President of the Switzerland - Romania Chamber of Commerce Adriana Cioca; Daniela Chrzanovski, Swiss Webacademy President & Founder; Quentin Ladetto, Director - Technology Foresight, Swiss Federal Department of Defence; Moe Jame, CEO, Team Extension SRL; Alexandru Puiu, Co-CTO, mindit.io; Amza Valentin Marius, CEO, Swiss Webacademy.
Quentin Ladetto is the creator and director of the technological foresight program of armasuisse Science and Technology - the technological centre of the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport. This program aims to identify disruptive technologies and assess their impact on the military sphere, while also anticipating, inspiring, informing and training the military and its various partners on the opportunities and threats posed by emerging technologies.
In his speech at the event, Ladetto highlighted the importance of anticipating technological trends and strategic adaptation:
Foresight is the future that provides feedback to the present. In an increasingly unpredictable world, foresight serves as a compass, training us to think long-term. Thinking about tomorrow is no longer enough; it is essential to rely on technological and socio-economic trends to remain agile and prepared to face any scenario. While we may have limited influence over certain events, our response is entirely under our control, he argued.
The mission of foresight can be summed up in two words: being prepared. What tools, mindset and attitude must be adopted in today's world to maintain direction? These aspects were explored by the participating experts, with the key takeaway being that organizations must switch from reflection to action, the release also says.
The Switzerland - Romania Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit association with a 24-year history in Romania and 170 member companies, which aims to facilitate business relations between Swiss and Romanian investors, as well as to provide economic information and consultancy to companies interested in developing business in the two countries. Supported by the Swiss Embassy in Romania, the Chamber has become over the last two decades the main player in Romanian-Swiss economic relations and has set up 10 working groups aimed at supporting its members, as well as the communities they operate in.
