Transport Minister Dan Costescu coordinated the promotion of 16 infrastructure projects of companies subordinate to his ministry, for possible financing under the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), the core of the Investment Plan for Europe known as the Juncker Plan.
A release of the Ministry of Transport to Agerpres on Tuesday says that Costescu advocated the importance of projects in all kinds of transportation, at the 'Boosting EFSI Investments In Transport' session of the TEN-T Days 2016 event in Rotterdam. Companies of the ministry participated in specialized presentations and noted the feedback of potential investors, thus hoping to consolidate their project concepts. The Romanian promoters also met European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc, who voiced her appreciation for the quick preparation of Romania's projects following the initial talks on the EFSI at the Regional Conference on the Investment Plan for Europe, hosted in Ljubljana.
Romania wants to extend the Bucharest's airports in Baneasa and Otopeni; it plans 121 kilometres of motorway from Craiova to Pitesti; to develop Bucharest's 48 km beltway to a motorway profile; it needs maintenance of the Bucharest-Pitesti and Bucharest-Constanta motorways; industrial areas south of Bucharest expect railway connections to the city, and other railways should be overhauled; quays on 287 metres and a terminal on 1.8 hectares are planned on the Danube - Black Sea canal; naval works also include other terminals and container handling facilities, etc.
