The Senate's Committee for economy, industry and services and the Committee for information technology and communications of the Deputies' Chamber on Tuesday approved the nomination of former Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu as head of the National Communications Administration and Regulation Authority (ANCOM).
The proposal was adopted with 15 votes "in favour", seven 'against" and one abstention. At the hearings, Grindeanu specified that he is currently apolitical, considering that he was expelled from the Social Democratic Party (PSD). The joint opinion of the two committees regarding the appointment of Grindeau at ANCOM will be further submitted to Parliament for voting by plenum.
Prime Minister Mihai Tudose on Monday announced that Sorin Grindeanu was his proposal as the next head of ANCOM. The former ANCOM head, Adrian Dita, resigned on October 20. He had been appointed by Parliament on May 11. Dita was accused by members of the two parliamentary committee at the hearings on September 27 and October 17 that he "abusively" reorganized the institution.
