The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Plastic, Reparatory Surgery and Burns Clinical Hospital in Bucharest was opened on Monday, after almost 7 months since it was closed for rehabilitation.

"Everything is new. The rooms are individual, for one patient in each room. Consequently, the unit only has five beds. The patient is provided all necessary facilities in the room. The unit has an air treatment plant, sliding doors with disinfectant dispenser. Therefore, upon entering the room, the hand is disinfected. The unit has new furniture, new beds," medical sources told agerpres..

At the same time, the unit has at its disposal water purifying and filtering surgical devices.

"The unit has at its disposal water purifying and filtering surgical devices, as those are in the OR, in each room. We have all necessary approvals. The staff works in shifts, same as before," the cited sources pointed out.

The unit was closed last year in July, after a doctor filmed larvae on a patient's wound.

The District 1 hall paid for the rehabilitation works approximately 250,000 euro, in addition to the equipment cost.
