Wednesday night, in the middle of a TV show, the USR senator and vice-president of the romanian Senate, Mihai Goţiu, was punched by sociologist Mirel Palada. The entire scandal happened during the commercial break of the TV debate and it all started after Goţiu told Palada that he had an improper behaviour during the show. Palada hit the senator with his fists and legs and broke Goţiu’s nose. The senator went to the Forensic Medicine Institute in Bucharest (IML) to issue a certificate with the intention of subsequently filing a criminal complaint.
“The tests prove the aggression, I had injuries at one lip and at one leg. It’s nothing serious, but I have to testify the aggression,” said Gotiu.
He thanked all who sent him solidarity messages. “I assure you I will keep on fighting against abuses of any kind, including against the political hooliganism, but only by legal means,” Gotiu stated.
Later in the day, in a press conference, Mihai Gotiu announced he decided to file a complaint against Mirel Palada to the Police.
