The number of second-hand cars registered in the first three months of 2017 nearly doubled (+ 98.06 pct), as compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 128,123 units, show the statistics of the Directorate for Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV), consulted by agerpres.
According to official data, in March 51,684 second-hand cars were registered, 103.79 pct above the figure recorded in the same month of 2016, when 25,362 units were recorded.
According to DRPCIV, as regards new car registrations, in the first three months of 2017, an increase of 27.50 pct was recorded, up to 22,276 units, as compared to the same period of the previous year, when 17,471 units were registered .
At the end of last year, the national car fleet in Romania exceeded 7 million vehicles, up by 6.21 pct over the previous year. Of this total, over 1.25 million were registered in Bucharest (about 18 pct of the overall number).
Still in the capital, most vehicles were in the 6-10 years old category (346,594 units), followed by the 11-15 years old range (301,648 units) and those over 20 years of use (195,666 units) .
The number of new vehicles (0-2 years old) in Bucharest was at the end of 2016, 134,322 units and 104,068 of them belongs to the 'Cars' category.
Nationally, from the overall number of over 7.01 million vehicles running on national roads, at the end of last year, 5.47 million (78 pct) were passenger cars, up by over 6 pct as compared to the end of 2015, when 5.15 million units were registered .
On December 31, 2016, on the roads of Romania 3.036 million vehicles with diesel engines were running (of which 2.119 million cars), while 3.586 million of cars had gasoline engines, of which 3.339 million were passenger cars.
