Employees of the Ministry of Finance and the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF) are protesting today dissatisfied with the measures taken by the government regarding the public servants, threatening to go on a general strike.
"We can go out every day or we can, if no one listens to us, block the activity and, then, all of Romania will be blocked. There will be no money for pensions, there will be no money for flying planes, there will be no money to pay salaries. Every day the number of protesters increases. While yesterday we had around 5,000 people in the streets, today we have around 8,000 people in the streets, in front of their workplaces. We still have up to 20,000 people. Eventually, we will not come to work one day on the day when salaries and pensions are paid. None of us will come at all. We close down and go home. By the time you get to the president and the prime minister, there are a thousand individuals who give their opinion about a piece of paper. We will continue the protests as long as necessary, until someone listens to us and tries to solve the major problems," Sed Lex trade union Chairman Vasile Marica told Digi24 private broadcaster, agerpres reports.
The emergency ordinance establishing measures regarding the civil servants funds, which caps the size of the bonus for dangerous or harmful work conditions at RON 300 gross per month, was published on Monday evening in the Official Journal.
The provisions of the ordinance enter into force on July 1, 2025 and stay in force until December 31, 2026.
"In relation to the working conditions in which the activity is carried out, dangerous or harmful conditions, the salaried personnel may receive an increase in the amount of up to RON 300 lei gross monthly for the time worked at the respective jobs, in compliance with the related provisions in force," reads the emergency ordinance.
Also, starting with the date of entry into force of the ordinance, the public employees who perform hard, dangerous or harmful work or work in workplaces where such conditions exist, established under Law no. 31/1991 setting the duration of working time below eight hours per day for employees who work in special-harmful conditions, are entitled each calendar year to an additional leave of absence of between three and five working days.
