European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu approved the financing of three road infrastructure projects, in which 407 million euro from cohesion policy funds are invested, reads a press release of the European Commission's agency in Romania sent toagerpres. on Tuesday.
""Thus, more than 336 million euro will be invested in the construction of the section between Dumbrava and Deva localities, of the western Lugoj-Deva motorway, part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), but also in the related infrastructure (bridges, intersections, tunnels ...). The time needed to drive between two cities will be reduced by one third. Another 62 million euro will be used to rehabilitate a section of the national road 6 linking the cities of Alexandria and Craiova, in the southwest of the country, in order to improve road safety and reduce travel time by three quarters of an hour," the document reads.
Likewise, about 9 million euro will finance the construction of the road section between the western cities of Timisoara and Lugoj, as well as a bypass variant in the Timisoara area.
"These projects, funded by the European Union, have the threefold objective of improving road safety, contributing to the economic development of the regions concerned and strengthening territorial cohesion in Romania," the European Commissioner for Regional Policy stated.
