Top employers to put 5,000 jobs up for grabs at trade fair, Oct.14-1

The employment fair to be held at Palace Hall in Bucharest this autumn, October 14-15, by top employers of Romania, will consist of 200 companies putting 5,000 jobs up for grabs. Organisers announced in a press statement released on Tuesday that there will also be 20 skill shops covering professional and personal development and 11 tech talk sessions for technology aficionados. Admission to the fair is free, conditional upon registration with hipo.ro.

Out of the 5,000 jobs going around, 16 percent are for workers with more than three years' seniority, 27 percent are middle-level positions for people with a job seniority of between one and three years, while 57 percent are entry-level jobs and internship positions. "In addition, the attending companies offer part-time career opportunities as well. Our statistics show that 42 percent of the employers attending the fair this year will have such job openings. Most of the companies, 98 percent of the attendees of the top employment trade fair October 14-15 have job openings in Bucharest City. There are also employers contemplating relocation to cities such as Timisoara (21 percent), Iasi (11 percent), Cluj-Napoca (11 percent), Brasov (15 percent), Arad (7 percent), Ploiesti (7 percent), Sibiu (11 percent), Oradea (3 percent), Targu-Mures (7 percent), Suceava (5 percent), as well as other areas with employment potentials," the statement reads.

Findings of a study of the most in-demand employers show that Bucharest job applicants want so work mainly in the IT industry (37 percent); next are consulting (22 percent), auditing and accounting (18 percent), marketing (18 percent), banking (16 percent), HR (13 percent) and telecom (12 percent). "In terms of successful job applications, 83 percent of the respondents from, among the top employers at the fair say realistic self-assessment of strong suits and weaknesses increases chances of recruitment. Honesty in interviews (75 percent), inspiring a positive attitude (52 percent), asking questions during the interview (37 percent) and a CV without grammar mistakes (19 percent) also weigh heavily in hiring decisions," according to the same study.
