The police are conducting several checking in Bucharest's District 3, where the traffic light boxes were illegally accessed.
The illegal interventions seem to have taken place manually at some traffic light boxes on the Blvd. Nicolae Grigorescu, at the bus station Policlinica Titan, with the alteration of the traffic light controller programme.
On Saturday, the Bucharest City Hall accused of illegal access of the traffic light system in the capital city. According to a release sent on Saturday night by the City Hall, the representatives of the Bucharest Traffic Management Municipal Company, in their capacity of operators of the traffic light system in Bucharest, have lodged on 29 December a criminal complaint, after on Friday and Saturday illegal access of the traffic light equipment took place.
"More exactly, the boxes containing the automatic traffic control in an intersection (even if secured) were being opened and other diagrams were introduced, different from the authorised ones (that do set the times for the red and green colours of the traffic lights and the zebra crossings)," the release reads.
After a first illegal access on 28 December that was quickly resolved, another illegal access took place on 29 December, in the same place, namely in front of the Titan University Polyclinic, and the street light system was blocked on the intermittent yellow colour.
