Prime Minister Viorica Dancila on Wednesday asked European Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans to confide in the observance of the rule of law in Romania, pointing out that the Romanian authorities will take into account the recommendations of the Venice Commission.
"Mr. First Vice-President Timmermans, we will certainly take into account the recommendations of the Venice Commission. Today, the Justice Minister, accompanying me here, will go to the Venice Commission. Romania is a pro-European country and it will certainly not stray from the pro-European road and this is a forme colleague of yours telling you so. Please confide in Romania and in the pro-European path and in the observance of the rule of law in my country," Dancila told the Wednesday debate in the European Parliament tackling the situation in Romania.
